Dining – Anthony has several restaurants starting as you enter town from the North – Our newest one, China. If you like Chinese food, stop here and you won’t leave hungry. On down the hi-way on the east side of the road- Dinner Bell. Owned & operated by Chad & Penny Gerdes, they are open M-F from 11 till 2. A special every day and yummy desserts! Still heading south, on the west side of the hi-way, is the Pizza Hut. They offer a buffet, Mon-Fri as well as lots of deals. Keep going and you’ll see the Whistle Stop Café. David & Ginny Nelson opened this restaurant several months ago, David grew up in the restaurant business. His parents owned Nelson’s. One of the few places that you can get breakfast. They also serve lunch and are open some evenings. Next, is McDonald’s on the corner – Anthony was one of the smallest towns to get a McDonald’s when it first opened. Turn East at McDonald’s and head downtown. On the South side of the street is the Roadrunner Café. This is a historic building as it is one of the original Valentine Diner’s. You can get a good old fashioned grilled hamburger as well as other specials. Next up is our neighbor – Kristy’s Kafe. Kristy’s is the home of the baked potato pizza. They also have sandwiches with homemade bread and a salad bar. During the week at lunch hour, they offer a pizza buffet. Remember, she is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Travel on east in the next block on the north side of the street is The Idle Hour. In years, past, Carrie Nation left her mark on the bar here. They offer noon specials as well as evening specials like Hamburger Mondays, Taco Tuesdays and Thirsty Thursdays. At the last stop light going east, you’ll find Cancun Mexican Restaurant. If you like Mexican, you’ll want to take your friends here. In addition to these food offerings, don’t forget we have Daylight Donuts, the soda fountain at Irwin-Potter Drug, and Higher Grounds/Leather Bounds offers specialty coffees and sweets.
Shopping – Besides Jetts, you’ll find lots of specialty stores ready to serve you in Anthony. In Jetts block, our next-door neighbor is Country At Heart. Known for her gifts and country décor items, Sheila expanded into the upstairs and offers clothing and accessories. On down the street is KLane’s. Many of you enjoy shopping her newly remodeled store here as well as in Wichita. KLane’s is a Brighton store as well as ladies clothing and accessories. Still heading west, you’ll find Marshall Jewelry. Lyle, along with his wife, Sandy, have owned and operated this store since 1981. Known for his custom designs, he can take your jewelry and carry out your dream. Just west of Marshall’s is Sewing World/SW Sidekick owned & operated by the Seipel’s – Marge & Janette Ballard. They carry fabric for all your sewing & craft projects, deliver balloon/candy bouquets, sell Stanley products, do custom sewing & alterations. Then we have – Higher Grounds/Leather Bounds – this non-profit business is the social center of Main Street. They have “The Ark” which is a good place to take your kids to play, they offer after school programs for the kids, they sell religious items and have their coffee bar. Across the street on the corner is Irwin-Potter Drug. You’ll love their beautiful gift items. Before we leave the down town area, across the street is Pro-Comm. They buy-sell-& trade new & used guns. Across the street, in our block, is Grene Vision’s new office. Also, in this block, you’ll find Classic Woods where they do woodworking, custom framing & furniture repair as well as being the FedEx stop. In the next block, east of Jetts, you’ll find a very special business, The Perfect Touch. They offer party supplies, cake decorating supplies and classes, and Elderberry Wine. For those of you who like the second-hand stores, Yardbirds is also in this block. Across the street in this block is J-Mac Flowers. On further east, 3 blocks after the east stop light, you’ll find Anthony Antiques. As you entered town from the west end, you won’t want to miss Farmhouse Five. They offer unique furniture and home décor. Don’t forget also on further west, outside the city limits, is Farm & Ranch Hand. In addition to farming supplies, they offer men’s clothing, work & casual. On the north edge of town, you’ll find a Dollar General & just past that, ShopKo.
Business – You will find that Anthony is a town to do business in – whether you need a bank, an accountant, a lawyer, a financial advisor, tax preparer, or an insurance agent, you’ll find several. We have dentist, doctors, chiropractor, and optometrist. There are several beauty salons & barbershops, as well as folks who offer massages & reflexology. Or maybe you need auto supplies, lumber/hardware, or a heating/air conditioning business. Maybe you need a realtor or title company. How about a mechanic or a farm supply store or implement company? You can find them here! Anthony is home to the county courthouse – which is in a beautiful courthouse just north of our main intersection and worth touring.
